Kindergarten Classroom

Be a Founding Teacher

Students spend most of their day with their lead teacher and assistant teacher, who guide projects, literacy, math thinking, and classroom routines. Throughout the week, specialty educators join us to deepen learning through art, language, movement, and hands-on exploration

We are building something intentional from the ground up. If you light up when kids ask, "But why?" then you've come to the right place.

Now Hiring: Founding Kindergarten Teacher

Full-Time | Richmond, VA | Opening August 2026

The Role

You will lead a small Kindergarten class (max 12 students) through interdisciplinary, hands-on learning experiences where literacy, math, science, and the arts emerge through meaningful projects and student curiosity.

This is a founding role. Your voice, ideas, and instructional design will directly shape the culture and identity of the school.

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and teaching integrated, project-based units

  • Using observation and student work to guide instruction

  • Building a classroom culture rooted in belonging and independence

  • Communicating thoughtfully with families

  • Collaborating on school traditions, systems, and curriculum development

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Believes young children are capable, thoughtful learners

  • Understands early literacy and numeracy development

  • Embraces inquiry-driven instruction

  • Brings warmth, flexibility, and strong communication skills

  • Experience in Kindergarten or early elementary (student teaching counts). Backgrounds in Montessori, Reggio Emilia, project-based learning, arts education, or experiential learning are especially welcome.

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree (licensure preferred but not required for the right fit)

Why Join Projectory School?

  • A small class of 10–12 students

  • Real autonomy to design meaningful learning experiences

  • The chance to help build a school from the ground up

  • A collaborative environment with specialty educators in art, language, and movement

  • A community that values curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning

How To Apply

Please email your resume and a brief introduction to info@projectoryschool.com.

In your email, we’d also love to hear about a learning experience or project you’ve led with children that began with their curiosity.

Additional Roles We Are Hiring For

In addition to our founding Kindergarten Teacher, we’re building a team of creative, student-centered educators to support our growing program for 2026–27 and beyond.

We invite early applicants for the following roles:

Foreign Language Teacher (Part-Time)

Seeking someone who brings culture, joy, and conversational language to young learners through stories, songs, and hands-on exploration. We're open to any foreign language, but would love to incorporate native holidays and traditions into our learning.

Art Teacher (Part-Time)

We’re looking for a maker-minded artist who values process over product and can guide children through creative exploration using varied materials and mediums.

PE Teacher (Part-Time)

A movement-forward educator who sees physical education as a path to confidence, collaboration, and lifelong health—more community games and opportunities to get everyone moving.
